Fireflies and your privacy
Last changed 1 October 2026
We made Fireflies to give you a little more calm, and it didn't seem right to ask anything of you in return. So it keeps almost nothing, and what it does keep stays with you.
The one thing it holds is the list of sites you've paused. That list lives in Chrome's own storage. If you're signed in to Chrome with sync turned on, Chrome carries it between your own browsers through your Google account, the same way it carries your bookmarks. It never comes to us, and nobody else sees it.
Fireflies asks to reach every site because you might want to pause any of them, and Chrome only lets an extension turn a site away if it has access to it. It uses that to open the night sky in place of a site you've paused, and to send tabs you already have open on it to the sky, and back again when you unpause it. It never reads what's on a page, and it doesn't keep any record of where you go.
The small icons beside your paused sites come from Chrome's own cache on your computer. The sky, the stars and the poems all come inside the extension, so nothing is fetched while you use it, and it works just as well without a connection.
There's no account to make, and we don't collect anything about you or how you use it. Which also means there's nothing of yours we could ever sell, share or lose.
If any of this ever changes, we'll change this page first, before the extension does. And if you have a question, we'd be glad to hear from you at hello@4ge.studio.
